Open Garden

Hamilton Terrace Garden 4th July 2004

A garden has been created by Sue Jackson and her neighbours in lane behind Hamilton Terrace, off Dipe Lane, West Boldon.

This tranquil hidden garden was created from an overgrown derelict lane and is now a delightful community garden used by residents for peaceful relaxation and social gatherings. There is a wide range of shrubs, perennials, herbs and annuals to attract insects and birds.  It has been featured on Tyne Tees Television and "Northern Glories.  Award winner Northumbria in Bloom 2003  and 2005.

The garden  was opened  to the public each year from about 1995 until about 2014 as part of  The National Open Gardens scheme.  Teas and plants were available at a modest charge.  As a result of this effort over £1,000 pounds was collected each year for various charities chosen by the National Garden Scheme.

Pay a visit I am sure you will not be disappointed.
