The July/August programme of events modestly describes the building as follows.
This stunning £70 million Norman Foster building provides world class facilities for all kinds of music - performances and participation. It includes:-

Concourse
Wrapping around the front and sides of the building, a spectacular glazed concourse providing unrivalled views of the vibrant cityscape and the River Tyne, plus a brasserie, a café and bars offering a range of food and drink - usually open to the public from 9am seven days a week, three hundred and sixty-three days of the Year.
Hall one

Hall One
A "shoe box" shaped hall with seating for around seventeen hundred people.
Hall Two
A flexible intimate auditorium of up to four hundred capacity seated or standing, which we believe to be the only ten-sided performing arts space in the world.
Northern Rock Foundation Hall
For rehearsal, performance and music participation.
Music Education Centre
A twenty-six room powerhouse for our focus on music education and community music, housing activities that support and expand our Learning and Participation programme throughout the ten thousand square miles of the North of England.
The Joan and Margaret Halbert Space
A high-tech music information and library service, called "ExploreMusic", run by Gateshead Council Libraries.
The Barber Room
A very special space for entertainment and events for up to three hundred people.
